The Uprising - The Launch of The Just Be Revolution
The Revolution started with a bang at our launch event, The Uprising, on 27th April 2017 at QT in Canberra. This sold out event was attended by local media and our early followers, and kick-started some amazing media coverage for the Revolution. Our guests were greeted by Paulini on the red carpet and had their photos taken in front of the media wall, at the photo booth or by the giant 'love' letters, by Belle Photography, Everart Photography and Lehan Photography. Once the evening began, co-founder Kartika, a proud Pakana woman, welcomed everyone and kicked things off with the Acknowledgment of Country. This was followed by a speech by the founder of the Revolution, Vicky, who then handed over to host Frances McNair. Throughout the evening guests were wowed by performances from Glamourosas, Rainbow and Captain Spitfire, and heard inspirational speeches and interviews with Nip from GGs Flowers and Kate Seselja from The Hope Project. Videos from our Just Be...Inspired series were shown throughout the evening too, giving guest incites into how and why our performers love what they do. Throughout the evening guests were invited to sign our Just Be canvas with messages of hope or encouragement. We'll be doing this at all our events and the growing number or messages and canvases will become a symbol of our growing army. Special thanks to our event partners Indivisual, Channel 9, The Local Larder, Guerilla Hair, What Would Blair Do? and Love Letters - we couldn't have done this without you.
Thank you to everyone who joined us on the evening, and to everyone who has supported us to reach this point. This is just the beginning. Vicky
